 Mercy Ships is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, & Development Director to serve remotely. In this position you'll have the opportunity to support the International Programs Department initiatives of Mercy Ships to ensure continued delivery of hope to those in need through ensuring all programmatic work clearly contributes to impact and outcome metrics.

**Compensation range for this position is $112,000 to $134,000/Year

 How You’ll Contribute

  • Responsible for servant-hearted and visionary Christ-like leadership of a team of monitoring, evaluation, and research experts across multiple locations (including across Africa), ensuring Mercy Ships program and projects contribute to clearly defined impact and outcome indicators.
  • Oversees the development and execution of budgets, plans, priorities, policies, administrative guidelines, and standard operating procedures in this area of responsibility.
  • Identify potential university partners for collaboration on designated M&E and research projects.
  • Ensure quality standards for M&E plans including the use of experimental and quasi-experimental design.
  • Ensure team collaborates well with internal team members in Programs regarding the M&E plans – Program Design; Direct Medical Services; and Education, Training, and Advocacy—to ensure impact and outcome measures are agreed upon, shared, and learning disseminated across all relevant Programmatic teams.
  • Ensure strong internal processes exist and are followed regarding in-field reporting on outputs, outcomes, and impact. This includes close collaboration with Mercy Ships data management teams.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and in-country leadership to ensure proper ethics approvals are completed both within Mercy Ships and the partner country, in alignment with all program implementation timelines.
  • Responsible to coordinate and partner with external organizations to conduct impact evaluations or primary research when required.
  • Maintain and develop a network of consulting experts in MELD throughout the Global Health space.

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in public health, global health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related fields, with demonstrated educational experience in monitoring, evaluation, and/or research.
  • A minimum of 5 years of working in global health and at least 2-3 years specific experience in monitoring, evaluation, research and learning within global health programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of qualitative and quantitative research skills, for example demonstrated knowledge of: study design, measurement tool design such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, sampling, data analysis plans, data cleaning, data analysis, presentation, reporting and communication of results.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in team leadership and management of Monitoring and Evaluation (i.e., providing technical advice, guidance and direction related to various sized programs and grants).
  • Experience contributing and /or leading proposal development.
  • Collaborative communicator.
  • Demonstrated strong management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills with proven ability to function effectively with multiple host-country counterparts in both the public and NGO sectors.
