Summary Description

Position that performs a variety of financial and accounting support services involving program data review, project budgeting, and reporting. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Collaborate with the Fund Management and broader Finance team to validate and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Learn and assist with the full cycle reporting and period-end close processes.
  • Prepare month-end account reconciliations.
  • Work with the Programs department and Fund Manager to create Programs project budgets and reforecast quarterly.
  • Create and administer Overhead allocation and cost recovery process each field service.
  • Calculate the value of Contributed Services in accordance to activities outlined by the surgery schedule.
  • Communicate with the National Offices to support funding planning with regular project reporting.
  • Complete monthly programmatic accounting entries for support costs, contributed services, national offices, and assessment and evaluation.
  • Assist Fund Manager with Data Validation and reclass entries to correct entries done incorrectly.
  • Assist Fund Manager in acting as a business partner to the Programs department for Finance-related questions and departmental budgeting. 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Word.  Experience using Accounting software, such as Abila. 
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Principles of data review, reporting, and analysis
  • Experience in accounting principles, data collection, and budget review
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with people from various cultures, backgrounds, and personalities to achieve tasks and enhance teamwork.
  • Preference of primary work location at ISC in Lindale, but may consider Remote.

Education And Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required.

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
