**Compensation Range for This Position Is $70,000 - $75,000

Mercy Ships is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to serve in our International Headquarters Office in Lindale, Texas. In this position you'll have the opportunity to support the Global Brand Department initiatives of Mercy Ships to ensure continued delivery of hope to those in need through expert leadership of all internal communication initiatives across the ministry.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Responsible for oversight of consistency in quality, style, and voice of the Mercy Ships brand to evolve the brand voice and grow brand awareness at an international level through insights from data, trends, and global developments. Has oversight to transcend voice and style across all communication channels, both internally and externally.
  • Serve as editor of Mercy Ships internal communications. Responsibilities include content creation and editing for multiple communications channels.
  • Work closely with the Brand Communication Director to plan, develop, execute and manage an internal communication strategy. Includes cascade planning defined by content type and delivery channels that are based on author and audience.
  • Manage internal communications requests across the organization by serving as a point of contact for all entities by vetting and managing the development of proper messaging and channels for those requests.
  • Manage the day-to-day content development and delivery of engaging, consistent, and value-added internal communications for staff engagement programs.
  • Work with Global Brand leadership to develop and implement an organizational brand reputation strategy.
  • Lead and manage development of internal communication tools.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision and committed to its core values.
  • Clear and concise communicator with strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills and the ability to tailor messages for particular audiences and channels; solid judgment and understanding of sensitivities related to internal communications; demonstrated business process development and project/event management skills; ability to work diplomatically at all levels and develop and maintain strong working relationships among internal staff.
  • Experience with all the following: newsletter writing and reporting; creating internal communication materials; managing internal communications channels and communications plans/campaigns; ensuring graphic design supports messaging; community engagement and facilitation methods that produce inclusive and equitable outcomes; managing multi-faceted projects.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence; respect for and ability to communicate with diverse audiences and perspectives.
  • Must be action oriented and willing to try innovative approaches, learn and adjust approach. A high degree of initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to undertake assignments with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Able to lead people and processes in a complex international environment and exert indirect authority to deliver results.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's in Marketing or Communications degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of successfully contributing to communications efforts in progressively more responsible roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing broad stakeholder groups, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills and the ability to synthesize abstract concepts into clear and accessible language.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
