Job Summary

The Office 365 Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft 365 solutions. The Office 365 Engineer will be crucial in ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of Office 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive. The Office 365 Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, enhance security, and drive adoption of Office 365 features.

How You’ll Contribute

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Administration and Configuration:
    • Manage user accounts, licenses, and permissions within Office 365.
    • Administration and configuration of the O365 platform (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)
    • Implement security policies, compliance settings, and data loss prevention (DLP) rules.
    • Deploy new features and updates, staying informed about Microsoft’s roadmap.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to O365 services.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with IT Staff to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
    • Support collaboration tools such as Teams.
    • Optimize communication channels and workflows.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Monitor and enhance security controls within O365.
    • Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and conditional access policies.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Performance Optimization:
    • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization.
    • Troubleshoot performance-related issues.
    • Implement best practices for scalability and reliability.
  • Documentation and Training:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation for O365 configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Provide training and support to IT staff.
  • May be required to provide out-of-hours or on-call support.
  • 25% travel to Mercy Ships locations domestic and international as appropriate
  • Eligible to travel based on Mercy Ships policies and procedures, government entities, and local health requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to make informed recommendations for system improvements. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Travel is required for this position and may include international travel. Further, the duration for travel may be for 3 weeks or longer per trip.

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
  • Must be able to travel internationally with a current passport.
  • All visitors to a vessel in field service are required to be up to date with WHO approved vaccines.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Office 365 administration.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for O365 management.
  • Familiarity with Azure Active Directory (AAD) and Intune.
    • Knowledge of hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).This role must conform with the Data Center or Cloud Tier 4 level of experience
    • This role must conform with the Data Center or Cloud Tier 4 level of certification and education
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
