Assist in fulfilling the overall vision of Mercy Ships through the acquisition of donated or purchased supplies and equipment for our operating locations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Support the Procurement Manager through coordinating procurement aspects and efforts to the global operating locations with Mercy Ships. This includes being knowledgeable and proficient in data management, documentation and efforts as required to properly identify and maintain supply inventory as required.
  • Receive customer requests for general supplies from the vessel and IOC and coordinate those supply needs.
  • Manage the vendor relationship. Build / maintain / expand the current vendor contacts to obtain donation or negotiate to get the best price possible.  Advise the Procurement Manager to ensure that requirements are satisfied at the most economical means possible (i.e., ship from existing Mercy Ships inventory, new Gift-in-Kind, new local procurement, etc.)

  • Coordinate with the warehousing and shipping/logistics operations across all Mercy Ships locations as it pertains to items being sourced.
  • Keep communications current to ensure customer (ship’s) support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Procurement and purchasing experience required
  • Sales experience helpful
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and creative thinking
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office and ability to learn the Mercy Ships inventory management system
  • Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision, and committed to its core values.
  • Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability
