Responsible for directing, planning and managing the configuration, operation, upgrade and build of new and existing server and data storage architecture, across the Mercy Ships organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

  • Recruit and develop appropriate staffing plans to meet the service level objectives
  • Provide leadership and management of the server team staff
  • Carry out department employee management responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies which include: planning, assigning, training and directing work; appraising performance and reviewing compensation; addressing complaints and resolving conflicts
  • Design, plan and build new server infrastructure
  • Design, plan and build processes for upgrading existing server infrastructure
  • Design and implement upgrades to data storage architecture to better optimize performance and response time
  • Upgrade, support and maintain virtual servers and hosted applications
  • Implement server security measures to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of organization data at rest
  • Coordinate with teams in the Information Services (IS) Department to ensure server performance can meet or exceed the needs of the organization
  • Work with the NOC to identify and resolve recurring issues that cause degradation in server/application services
  • Ensure that appropriate communications on upgrades and maintenance are disseminated
  • Participates in the preparation of budgetary recommendations with regards to server infrastructure responsibilities.
  • Some local and international travel required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements)

  • Able to contribute to community life, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills
  • Experience and working knowledge of IT infrastructure policy, processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of formal IT management best practice, such as ITIL/Cobit/ITSM
