Pharmacy Programs Manager
Summary:  Coordinate the technical development and supervision of Mercy Ships Health Care Systems Pharmacy. Identify products and manufacturers for Pharmacy Demand Planner to source and procure needed products.
Description:  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

  • Provide Mercy Ships Pharmacies with consistent oversight, operational problem solving, and pharmacy support.
  • Develop opportunities to improve current operational efficiencies and review requests for changes in pharmaceutical services.
  • Coordinate Pharmacy development, policy, methodologies and procedures for all operations.
  • Ensure proper Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality Improvement in Mercy Ships Pharmaceutical handling procedures.
  • Assist in writing proposals for gift in-kinds, pharmacy related grants and other funding options.
  • Work with Supply Operations team regarding the selection, procurement, and purchase of appropriate pharmaceuticals for Mercy Ships programs.
  • Ensure that all new requests for pharmaceuticals are processed through the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the approved Hospital Formulary.
  • Responsible for review and approval of pharmaceutical forecast based on anticipated host country Project plans and crew needs
  • Liaise with the Senior Pharmacists and Pharmacy Demand Planner to identify monthly product needs and generate regular orders.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly calls with Senior Pharmacist.  Address and document any expressed concerns. 
  • Communicate regular updates to Health Care Services Director, Medical Demand Manager, and Hospital Managers regarding status of pharmaceuticals.
  • Oversee pharmaceutical recalls and products disposal.
  • Assist with pharmaceutical related development / design for expansion and remodels of the Mercy Ships vessels.
  • Oversee the correct description of pharmacy items in PDX and Arise, Omnicell and SeaCare systems.
  • Other duties as assigned
