Hospitality Assistant
Summary:  Assists in the daily operations of hospitality, housekeeping and laundry for the Mercy Ships International Support Center (ISC) accommodation and community.
Description:  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Hospitality Coordinator with scheduling accommodation for all guests (e.g. incoming ISC staff, transfers, short-termers, long-termers, students and guests).
  • Prepare and clean accommodations, particularly prior to and after Basic Training (BT), Foundations of Mercy Ships (FMS), On Boarding and other short-term training programs held at the ISC. Ensure essential supply levels are maintained, including conference rooms.
  • Launder bedding, towels, etc... Used in ISC accommodation areas.
  • Deliver and setup refreshments for official meetings including BT, FMS, and On Boarding.  Coordinate the arrival of students or staff who will be staying in ISC accommodation, including communication and welcoming.
  • Complete Exit inspections to accommodations, raising maintenance tickets as necessary.
  • Update ISC Campus and Dorm Residents list on Navigator monthly.
  • Assist in Oasis Dining Room, Anchorage Cafe, and Janitorial Services as necessary.
  • Stock breakfast items and supplies in dorms/housing kitchens, as needed, during guest stay.
  • Order standard office supplies (found in Navigator).
  • Assist with the decorating and supplies for ISC events and activities.
  • Work with volunteers and their job assignments while on campus.  Respond to guest requests, as needed, both during and after normal work hours.
  • Assist in ISC Reception, as needed.

 Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements)

  • Flexibility and people skills a must for working with co-workers, department staff, leadership, volunteers and guests.
  • Reasonable level of physical fitness to include, but not limited to, operating laundry equipment, cleaning equipment, making beds, driving a golf cart and other physical tasks.
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented verbally and ability to understand written instructions in work related documents.
  • Previous hotel administration, hospitality, or similar skills, knowledge, and experience preferred.
  • Reside in close proximity of campus preferred.
