System Engineer I
Summary:  Collaborates in the design of new Information Technology infrastructure solutions and participates in the implementation and testing of the approved solutions. Once the infrastructure solutions are implemented, the Jr. System Engineer provides on-going support and maintenance. This is a temporary position "12 months" possibly longer

Junior System Engineer

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform the job successfully, an individual should be able to perform the following tasks with little to no supervision:

  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory Users, Groups replication
  • Manage server hosted solutions, such as DNS, DHCP and system updates
  • Implement new server builds, and work with IS Staff to produce effective application hosting platforms
  • Implement and assess trials and prototypes from concept documentation
  • Implement and test production infrastructure from approved designs and deployment plans
  • Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot IT server and storage infrastructure issues
  • Manage end user computing technologies (VDI, WSUS, Deployment, etc.)
  • Write and maintain documentation including specifications, procedures, and designs
  • May be required to provide out-of-hours or on-call support
  • Other duties as assigned

  • An up to date working knowledge in: Network technology including LANs, WANs, and VPNs
  • Microsoft Windows Server and RedHat Enterprise Linux operating systems
  • Virtualization technologies including enterprise VMWare
  • Storage technologies including enterprise SANs
  • Directory solutions such as Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP
  • IT infrastructure security with an understanding of the vulnerabilities and counter measures
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues
