Summary:  Responsible for the creation, iteration, and maintenance of enterprise and business architectures embodying the key principles, methods and models that describe the organisation's future state, and that enable its evolution.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Responsible for the translation of business strategy and objectives into a technology operating model, encompassing business processes, systems and infrastructure in order to achieve predictable transition to the intended state.
  • Directs the creation and review of a technology capability strategy to support the strategic requirements of the business.
  • Identifies the business benefits of alternative strategies.
  • Directs development of enterprise-wide architecture and processes which ensure that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organisation.
  • Ensures compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices.
  • Captures and prioritises market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives.
  • Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level business models, and preparing business cases.
  • Maintains an awareness of the global needs of the organisation, and promotes (to both information systems and business management) the benefits that a common approach to information and communications technology deployment will bring to the business as a whole.
  • Coordinates the promotion, acquisition, development, and implementation of information systems and services in close liaison with those responsible for management and strategy.
  • Recognises potential strategic application of information technology capabilities.
  • Initiates and manages investigation and development of innovative methods, practices and technology.
  • Collaborate with Information Services (IS) staff to generate a technology strategy, roadmap, and develop operating models.
  • Contribute to the development of Information Services strategy, goals and objectives, and collaborate with other IS managers to ensure that they are met, within the priorities and resources of the department.
  • Collaborate with the other IS managers in planning and managing the program of work for the IS department and in the preparation and administration of budgets that provide for effective management of resources.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all partners, applying Mercy Ships core values as the cornerstone of all actions and communication.
  • Act as a team player, using principles from Crucial Conversations to ensure strong and open working relationships.
  • Protect information assets controlled within the IS systems, applications or infrastructure, as defined in Mercy Ships policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required:

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience is required, preferably with at least 3 years management experience in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Experience in planning and technical guidance for multi-discipline teams.
  • Experience in the development and management of enterprise architecture functions.
