Summary:  Responsible for supporting the Director of Innovation and Enterprise Architecture with the maintenance of enterprise and business architectures that describe the organization's current and future states.
Description:  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

  • Responsible for supporting the translation of business objectives into a technology operating model, encompassing business processes, systems and infrastructure in order to achieve predictable transition to the intended state.
  • Responsible for managing enterprise-wide architecture processes to ensure that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organization.
  • Collaborates with Information Services (IS) and business staff to generate a technology current state, desired future state, and corresponding road-map.
  • Captures market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives.
  • Recognizes potential strategic application of information technology capabilities.
  • Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level business models, and preparing business cases.
  • Maintains an awareness of the global needs of the organization, and promotes (to both information systems and business management) the benefits that a common approach to information and communications technology deployment will bring to the business as a whole.
  • Contributes to the development of Information Services strategy, goals and objectives, and collaborate with other IS managers to ensure that they are met, within the priorities and resources of the department.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all partners, applying Mercy Ships core values as the cornerstone of all actions and communication.
  • Acts as a team player, using principles from the book Crucial Conversations to ensure strong and open working relationships.
  • Protects information assets controlled within the IS systems, applications or infrastructure, as defined in Mercy Ships policies and procedures.

    Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Able to contribute to community life, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and modelling principles.
  • Knowledge of formal IT management best practice, such as TOGAF, COBIT and ITIL.
  • An ability to adjust quickly in response to organizational, strategic or priority changes and shifting customer needs.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • A strong customer service orientation, with excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience is required, preferably with at least 3 years management experience in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Experience in planning and technical guidance for multi-discipline teams.
  • Experience in the development and management of enterprise architecture functions.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
