Description:
Mercy Ships is seeking a Network Engineer II who is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components. A Network Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction. A Network Engineer also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, Spam, etc.)
• Design, configure and setup Cisco routers and switches
• Design, setup and configure wireless networking
• Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes
• Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support
• Maintain multi-site network operations, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities
• Maintain and administer perimeter security systems such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
• Manage assigned project and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives
• Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware
• May be required to provide out-of-hours or on-call support
• 25% travel to Mercy Ships locations domestic and international as appropriate
• Eligible to travel based on Mercy Ships policies and procedures, government entities, and local health requirements

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Requirements)

• Able to live in and contribute to community life, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills
• Expertise with Cisco routers and switches
• In depth knowledge of TCP/IP
• Knowledge of routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP
• Strong knowledge of LAN related technologies, VLAN’s, etc.
• Working technical knowledge of HTTP/S, DNS, FTP etc.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• WAN troubleshooting knowledge
• Experience working independently with service providers
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
• Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
