Summary:  Responsible for proactively sourcing and recruiting qualified staff and volunteers for opportunities at Mercy Ships’ International Support Center (ISC).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

External

    • Create and implement marketing strategies to attract passive and active candidates, as well as to increase local awareness of Mercy Ships.
    • Find qualified candidates, according to relevant job criteria, using online tools and resources, cold calls, staff/crew referrals, etc.
    • Develop an extensive network of potential candidates via social media, industry contacts, association memberships, and trade groups, local activities, etc. Maintain routine contact with potential candidates through vacancy notifications, emails, phone calls, etc.
    • Coordinate and implement seed-planting initiatives through college career centers, academic departments and student groups.
    • Research advertising venues; developing effective ads and job postings; placing approved advertisements accordingly and monitoring their effectiveness.
    • Promote key roles, as appropriate, across the United States, through professional associations, university events, job fairs, conferences, etc. Write event reports and follow up with leads.

 Internal

    • Maintain current knowledge of Mercy Ships’ departments, policies, and procedures as they are related to staff, and manage the front-end of the recruitment cycle for all staff vacancies (sourcing, screening, interviewing, verification).
    • Establish, cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with Department Heads in order to understand their recruitment needs; develop and maintain a strong rapport with key leaders in the department.
    • Maintain ongoing collaboration with the ISC HR Director, HR Generalist, and HR Business Systems Administrator to improve the staff application and selection processes, improve the candidate experience, and ensure a smooth workflow.
    • Track and report key metrics to measure efficiency and effectiveness of recruitment activities.
    • Create and submit an annual recruiting budget; maintain various recruitment documentation.
    • Identify opportunities to “think sideways” and engage in cross-functional projects.
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and/or participating in professional organizations.
    • Research and recommend new sources and techniques for more effective recruiting.
    • Support additional, relevant HR initiatives (i.e. referral programs, employee engagement initiatives) and critical ship recruitment needs as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Knowledge of data mining and internet research for the purpose of finding candidates and resumes from all sources.
    • Able to determine and develop the best sourcing method for different candidates, ones that maximizes sourcing dollars and reduces time-to-hire.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to quickly build rapport via phone and email for candidate contact.
    • High aptitude for computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Education And Experience

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
