Summary Description
Oversee the process of delivering fresh water as well as treatment of effluent through the management and oversight of the water/waste water equipment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Operate waste water treatment plant according to state and local regulations. Adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water and process or dispose of sewage.
Schedule maintenance on plant in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
Maintain records as required by state and local regulations.
Maintain fresh water quality and quantity by carrying out necessary testing and schedule maintenance procedures. Collect and test water and sewage samples, using test equipment and color analysis standards.
Keep Maintenance and Grounds Manager apprised of any situation that may lead to a disruption of service.
Schedule maintenance on water storage tanks as necessary. Direct and coordinate plant workers engaged in routine operations and maintenance activities.

Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.
Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general science and business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, students.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.
Previous work-related skill, knowledge and/or experience is required.
Must possess any State or Local licensing required to manage and operate a wastewater and sewage treatment plant.
A Bachelor of Science and Microbiology plus five years experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
