Summary:  Responsible to oversee the Dining Room department facilities as well as staffing, scheduling, and training volunteers and local day crew.

With over 1000 meals being served per day onboard, our dining room staff is always in motion. They work closely with the Galley Team in preparing and cleaning the dining area, helping to serve meals, and overseeing the entire dining experience onboard.  

The Dining Room Manager volunteer position, part of the Food Services department, will be located on the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ships. The preferred minimum commitment for this role is one year. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than twelve months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program

Qualifications required:

  • Relevant supervisory experience required
  • Certificate in Food Hygiene (Food Handler's Card - ServSafe) preferred 
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs./14 kg. regularly and have endurance for physical labour activities including bending, kneeling, and walking up and down stairs
  • International Driving Permit required.
