Summary:  Supports Medical Capacity Building Director in the development and implementation of Biomed programs both on board and off ship. Ensures goals are achieved each field service and reports are completed. Develops and maintains strong relationships with local partners and government officials.

Assist the Hospital with set up, pack up, and emergency Biomed needs, if and when required.

The Program Manager - Biomed volunteer position, part of the Medical Capacity Building team, will be located on the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ships. The preferred minimum time commitment for this role is two years. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than twelve months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program.

Qualifications Required:

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding program required
  • Technical or academic training satisfactory for the position (Electronics, Biomedical, Clinical or Electronic Engineering)
  • 2 years experience as a Biomedical Technician, preferably as Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician
  • Preference to have previous mission work in a related (biomedical) work environment, and being involved in biomedical training program(s)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Fluent in English 
  • Must have French language skills - International B1 Level (or equivalent), B2 desirable when serving in Francophone countries 
  • International Driver's Permit required
