Summary
Summary Description
The
Assistant Cook is responsible for providing exceptional guest/staff experience
through high-quality culinary services at Mercy Ships International Office. This
position is a dynamic, customer-facing role that requires
high organization and professional communication.
How
You’ll Contribute
To perform
this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily.
- Prepare a variety of food items
per menu following designated recipes to standard of
excellence.
- Prepare food production to
coordinate with meal service times to maintain quality, temperature,
and appearance of food.
- Present food items in an
appealing manner.
- Ensure food safety by monitoring
food temperatures and use proper food storage techniques in
accordance with state and local standards.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and
organized kitchen by regularly cleaning.
- Work as a team member in food
preparation and clean up.
- Maintain organization in food
storage and communicate ordering needs promptly.
- Perform additional duties as
assigned to support the hospitality team and overall operations.
- Must be able to stand/walk for
multiple hours; lift up to 25lbs.

Education And Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the
education and/or experience required.
- High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
- Food Handler’s permit
- Customer service experience required.
- Hotel/Housing experience preferred.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required
within the first year.
