**Compensation Range for This Position Is $80,000 - $86,700
Mercy Ships is seeking an Electrical Technical Superintendent to serve remotely. In this position you'll:
- Coordinate the electrical aspects of the technical operations of company ships in cooperation with Senior Officers, Technical Superintendents and the Director of Technical Operations.
- Manage the design, operation, and maintenance of the electrical systems and infrastructure on company ships to ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and company policies and procedures.
- Support the electrical departments on company ships, ensuring they are maintaining and operating the electrical systems according to procedure.
How You’ll Contribute
- Monitor routine and corrective maintenance onboard company ships using the company's designated planned maintenance system (PMS).
- Create and improve work instructions for electrical systems to ensure ships’ equipment is maintained adequately. Review electrical department work orders for completeness.
- Stay apprised of the condition of electrical systems and equipment on company ships. Attend weekly technical meetings for each ship.
- Assist onboard teams with troubleshooting electrical system and equipment faults, keeping ships’ Technical Superintendents informed of any significant issues. Assist ships’ crews in finding suitable replacements for obsolete components.
- Arrange contractor support as needed to facilitate repair and upkeep of ships’ electrical systems.
- Assist in the review of requests for repairs and/or modifications to ship systems and equipment to determine compliance with statutory regulations and classification society rules. Determine power and cable requirements for proposed installations.
- Oversee preparation of work plans for major repairs or modifications of the electrical infrastructure of company ships. Attend ships during annual maintenance phases (AMP) as required.
- Maintain contact with contractors to ensure completion of work according to contract terms.
- Support Marine Projects regarding changes to a ship’s electrical infrastructure. Ensure installations are according to Class rules (e.g. IP ratings, bulkhead penetrations, etc.)
- Update and maintain ships’ electrical drawings. Ensure all drawings are updated after any modification to the electrical systems.
- Assist in the investigation of machinery casualties to determine cause.
- Liaise with each ship’s Technical Superintendent regarding records of electrical expenses for repairs, services and supplies.
- Monitor classification requirements to ensure timely completion of required electrical surveys.
- Review and advise on qualifications of technical staff and/or applicants as requested.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of company safety management system (SMS). Support QHSE personnel in ensuring safe working practices are followed on company ships.
- Visit company ships as directed by the Director of Technical operations for operational support and annual maintenance phases.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
- Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) from four-year college or university; or four years related industry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Use of Autocad preferred but not essential.
- Experience on company ships preferred but not essential.
- Certificate of Competency in accordance with STCW A-III/6 preferred.
