**Compensation Range for This Position Is $20.80 - $21.63/HR
Mercy Ships is seeking a Surgical Recruitment Coordinator to support the growth of Mercy Ships vessels by providing high quality customer service and support of all US applications, crew and alumni. You will work closely with key stakeholders, ensuring incoming applicants are fully equipped, educated, and supported in order to thrive in the Mercy Ships community. Key duties include responding to US candidate inquires, thoroughly screening US applications submitted, guiding crew through all stages of their journey, providing resources, resolving issues and enhancing overall volunteer engagement.
How You’ll Contribute
- Respond to inquiries from potential applicants, providing accurate information related to opportunities within the framework of the unique mission of Mercy Ships.
- Thoroughly screen all new US volunteer applications for service, both onboard and ashore.
- With data integrity integral, establish the application in all relevant People and Culture (P&C) systems.
- Conscientiously examine available information (applications, correspondence, employment records) to create a comprehensive perspective of the applicant that feeds into their individualized communication plan and the overall recommendations for the individual.
- Arrange phone or video calls with applicants who have advanced through the initial screening, setting expectations, answering questions, and providing a personalized experience.
- Collect missing documentation to complete the application before official reviews.
- Contact all applicant references.
- Assign and review video interviews.
- Suggest alternate, suitable positions for applicants as needed.
- Distinguish between qualified and unqualified applications.
- Responsible for denying or withdrawing applications that are deemed unqualified for Mercy Ships service, or applicants that are non-responsive.
- Meticulously track applications assigned, document progress, and provide requested workload & progress metrics.
- Proactively communicate application progress to any relevant stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of changes in job requirements, service conditions, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure a high-touch, positive candidate experience utilizing the organization's unique Talent Value Proposition.
- Advocate for and guide crew through their Mercy Ships journey, providing holistic care, ensuring they are fully equipped, educated and supported to thrive during their service.
- Build sustainable relationships and trust with US crew through open and interactive communication. ·
- Facilitate Pre-Ship Orientations to ensure crew understand their role in the mission of Mercy Ships and are prepared for their commitment.
- Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of internal processes and requirements for all stages of the volunteer journey. Engage in regular communication with crew within the parameters of the approved Global Volunteer Journey, providing relevant and timely updates, support, and other personal encouragement.
- Support long-term crew members with their unique preparation needs within the approved Global Volunteer Journey parameters.
- Assist with pre-ship tasks, providing guidance for but not limited to fundraising, travel, medical, and insurance information ensuring local relevance and context.
- Attend regular meetings with the US Crew Navigator Manager and collaborate with the Global Crew Navigator teams as needed.
- Conduct timely, accurate, and compassionate conversations when difficult situations arise with guidance from US Crew Navigator Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions, engagement, feedback and progress.
- Work alongside Global Alumni Manger to prepare crew for disembarkation by providing relevant resources and support for a smooth transition.
- Work with various stakeholders to continually assessing, grow and improve our Global Volunteer Journey enhancing volunteer satisfaction rates.
- Some overnight travel required.
- Other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL / SYSTEMS
- Strong computer skills required with proficiency with Microsoft 365, CRM tools (Salesforce), and Pardot.
- Capacity to learn new systems, tools, and applications.

Education & Experience
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, or another relevant field is preferred, or a mix of education and relevant job experience.
- A minimum of two years of administrative experience is required, preferably in the HR / Recruiting function is preferred.
- Experience in a customer service role is Required.
- Previous experience within Mercy Ships is advantageous, though not required.
