**Compensation Range for This Position Is $85,000 - $95,000 depending on experience.
As a Systems Engineer II you will collaborate in the design of new Information Technology infrastructure solutions and participates in the implementation and testing of the approved solutions. Once the infrastructure solutions are implemented, the Systems Engineer provides on-going support and maintenance.
This is a full-time remote role.
How You’ll Contribute
- Identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability
- Create logical and innovative solutions for IT infrastructure including servers, storage, virtualization platforms
- Work closely with other IS staff to ensure technical compatibility and effective integration
- Implement and assess trials and prototypes from concept documentation
- Implement and test production infrastructure from approved designs and deployment plans
- Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot IT infrastructure issues
- Write and maintain documentation including specifications, procedures, and designs
- May be required to provide out-of-hours or on-call support
- 25% travel to Mercy Ships locations domestic and international as appropriate
- Eligible to travel based on Mercy Ships policies and procedures, government entities, and local health requirements

The Ideal Candidate
- Able to contribute to community life, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills
- An up to date working knowledge in:
- Network technology including LANs, WANs, and VPNs
- Microsoft Windows Server and RedHat Enterprise Linux operating systems
- Virtualization technologies including enterprise VMWare
- Storage technologies including enterprise SANs
- Directory solutions such as Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP
- IT infrastructure security with an understanding of the vulnerabilities and countermeasures
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues
- Ability to plan and work flexibly to a deadline
- Knowledge of technology deployment methodologies and frameworks for incident resolution
- An ability to organize his/her work and embrace and participate in a well-functioning, productive, creative and collegial team
- Travel is required for this position and may include international travel. Further, duration for travel may be for 3 weeks or longer per trip.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- This role falls under the framework of Enterprise Infrastructure Tiered Role Model.
- This role must conform with the Data Center or Cloud Tier 2 level of experience
- This role must conform with the Data Center or Cloud Tier 2 level of certification and education
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year
- Must be able to travel internationally with current passport.
- All visitors to a vessel in field service are required to be up to date with WHO approved vaccines.
