International Chaplain
Summary:  Mercy Ships Chaplaincy aims to promote Spiritual, Emotional, Relational, and Financial HEALTH of the Community of Faith. THE FOCUS of the Chaplaincy is to provide and facilitate pastoral care for all Mercy Ships personnel. OUR GOAL is to help create an environment for each individual to live in a biblically healthy manner in order to fulfill their purpose in Mercy Ships for as long as the Lord has designed. OUR BELIEF is that by being objective, safe and impartial we can influence, encourage, shepherd, teach, counsel and mediate in both proactive and responsive ways.

The International Chaplain leads and oversees the services offered globally by Mercy Ships Chaplaincy. In collaboration with the GMD, the International Chaplain develops vision and strategy for the spiritual, emotional, relational and financial growth and well-being of all crew and staff members.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    • Ensures that Spiritual, Emotional, Relational, and Financial health of the Community of Faith is promoted for each staff/crew at all MS operating locations.
    • Provides direction to and vision for the three main areas of Chaplaincy:
      • Spiritual Formation
      • Counseling Services
      • Assessment and Member Care Planning
    • Promotes and guards Mercy Ships core values in the process of strengthening and emphasizing the Community of Faith.
    • Stays informed of current developments in the field of care and support of cross cultural workers.
    • Ensures that each MS operating location with over 100 personnel is adequately staffed with well trained and suitable chaplains.
    • Ensures that appropriate member care response is available for any staff or crew member affected by a breach in Mercy Ships Code of Conduct (Child Welfare, Harassment Prevention etc.)
    • Carries out department emp
