**Compensation Range for This Position Is $73,000 - $78,000 depending on experience.

 

The Hospital Quality Assurance Manager develops the Quality Management framework for the fleet Hospitals in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, the Senior Director of Clinical Services (SDSC), International Chief Medical Officer (ICMO), and other stakeholders. Provides managerial oversight and support to the Hospital Quality Assurance departments onboard Mercy Ships vessels. This individual will have a high degree of expertise in quality improvement and will actively collaborate with medical staff and various departments within the organization to measure, analyze, and improve clinical and quality management processes with continuous methods.

 

How You’ll Contribute

 

Core

  • Manages and implements the Quality Management and Quality Improvement Programs.
  • Advises the Director of Nursing in areas of quality improvements in alignment with Hospital and organizational goals; provides oversight and coordination for all clinical Quality Control departments across Mercy Ships vessels.
  • Advises on and oversees the implementation of new quality management and reporting initiatives for the Hospitals, and takes a supportive, active role in the continued development of the fleet Hospitals' quality management standards.
  • Research trends and developments in quality management standards and oversees the development of comprehensive safety, quality, and performance improvement goals in relation to the analysis and trending data in their department.
  • Effective use of quality improvement and process improvement reports to assist in designated projects.
  • Supports the controlled document and policy writing, approval, and publishing processes of fleet-wide Hospital departments.

    Leadership

  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary health care team for development and implementation of Quality management program.
  • Provides ongoing direction to ship QA managers to ensure resources are well-coordinated and all issues are appropriately communicated.
  • Uses servant leadership and strong interpersonal skills to motivate and develop an effective, creative, and collegial team.
  • Proactively leads and invests in the development of team members, providing training, guidance, and feedback, to support each team member in achieving their goals and a high level of job satisfaction.

    Data and Information Management

  • Provides a summary of the performance data, identifies opportunities for improvement and presents these findings to the Director of Nursing, SDCS and ICMO on a regular basis.
  • Facilitates internal audits; advises on systems for data collection, reporting, and analysis functions in collaboration with the Programs Informatics Manager.
  • Provides cross-functional assistance on an as-needed basis to other programmatic areas within Mercy Ships.
  • Completes and coordinates data aggregation, in a timely manner, for the use in various decisions and projects as defined by the Programs and Direct Medical Services leadership.

    Document Control

  • Responsible for the management of documents pertinent to the fleet clinical quality assurance program, for example, ensuring the appropriate review and update of policies and procedures. Ensures that processes needed for the Quality Management Systems are maintained and further developed as applicable.
  • Responsible for maintaining document control through timely edits and additions to the Hospital Administration Document Management System (HA-DMS).

  • Ability to clearly communicate quality management methods, concepts, and tools to all levels of staff in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Well-organized and disciplined with well-developed project management capabilities; detail & process-oriented; can proactively manage multiple priorities and projects on tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Effective application of quality management principles, quality measures, clinical quality guidelines, and process management initiatives.

     

    Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical healthcare-related field is required.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or other recognized certification in quality and/or patient safety programs.
  • 3+ years’ experience in performance improvement and/or project management, advanced training, and/or experience in continuous quality improvement.
  • Proven knowledge of processes and databases; adept at Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Training in quantitative methods and statistical analysis.
  • Current or recent senior responsibility with Mercy Ships, strong working knowledge of Mercy Ships organization, values, and culture, and/or previous clinical experience in developing nations preferred.
