To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
o Guide the development of Mercy Ships’ policy and advocacy work stream
o Work in collaboration with the Senior Director of Education, Training, and Advocacy, members of the Program Design team, and selected national offices to create advocacy opportunities at national, regional, and international meetings
o Represent Mercy Ships in person and online to academic partners, ministries of health, and international organizations
o Work with members of the Monitoring and Evaluation team to create key performance indicators around advocacy
o Support and push forward the Dakar Declaration on Global Surgery
o Accompany the CEO, ICMO, Diplomatic Liaison, or VP of International Programs on diplomatic visits to host countries, as requested
o Provide context-sensitive input to Programs, which takes into account the host country and the history of Mercy Ships
o Provide strategic guidance to the ICMO as needed
o Provide strategic guidance to the CEO as needed
o Support the Monitoring and Evaluation team in the creation and sustaining of a plan-do-study-learn cycle for advocacy, as well as for education and training
o Promote Mercy Ships to their specialty medical community, to the academic community, and to multilateral organizations, including but not limited to the World Health Assembly and the United Nations
o Other duties as assigned
