The Patient Selection Informatics Specialist acts as the bridge between the informatics systems department across the organization and the global patient selection team. The Patient Selection Informatics Specialist is responsible for the Patient Registration Technology updates and training, as well as, supporting setting up hardware in host nation in collaboration with the IS team. Remote position, with the expectation to travel up to 4 months per year to mainly countries on the African continent to support the patient selection country team with setting up the Patient Registration, as well as, part of assessment of new host nations.

 

How You’ll Contribute

  • Main contact with IS for the PRT, Patient Registration Technology
  • Making updates
  • Getting the PowerApps app ready for country specific deployment
  • Getting the Kobo Collect app ready for country specific deployment
  • Give Patient Registrar training on the Patient Registration Technology software 2x per year
  • Write and update manuals for the registrars and reviewers using the PRT
  • Give software training to the reviewer team for the PRT
  • Preparation of the Patient Registrar phones and setup with the registrars
  • Help trouble shooting on the ground and remotely during patient registration in the country
  • Involved in development of patient selection interfaces with new EMR
  • Set up of IS equipment for patient selection team in country where needed
  • Navigator (internal platform) expert on the team
  • Help developing e-learnings for team training
  • Available in case needed to be part of (follow up) assessment in host nation to check on internet connectivity and feasibility in different locations.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects, as required.

  • Expert skills with Microsoft Office products such as PowerApps, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams
  • Expert skills with Kobo Collect app
  • Expert skills in uploading, editing and managing online content on internal platform.
  • Strong learning skills.
  • Must be fluent in English and possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and workload effectively
  • Strong online communication skills through, calls and online communication platforms like Teams
  • Familiarity with medical terminology beneficial, but not required
  • Requires flexibility and sensitivity to language and cultural diversity
  • Available for at least 5 hours of the day in GMT+1 time zone workhours (8.00-17.00h)
  • Possess a strong customer service mindset including attitude and approach

     

    Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of Onboarding program is required
  • Minimum two-years’ experience in informatics
  • Health care system experience preferred, but not required
  • Previous Mercy Ships experience preferred, but not required.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
  • 3 years cross-cultural experience working in developing nations and managing projects in the field, preferably with Mercy Ships.
  • 1 year experience with Mercy Ships surgical programs is required, preferably with experience or at least exposure to patient selection
  • Healthcare background required working within the surgical discipline as a nurse, physical therapist, doctor, or related profession
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Participation in Global Patient Selection training where appropriate
  • French language skills strongly preferred (International B2 level or equivalent)
  • Must have or be willing to obtain an International Driving permit – ability to drive a manual (standard) vehicle required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Programs, including Word, Excel, Teams, One Note, SharePoint
