This is a regular full-time REMOTE opportunity, and the pay range is $60,000 - $64,900.

The Junior Project Manager supports the planning, execution, and delivery of projects by coordinating tasks, managing timelines, and facilitating effective communication among team members and stakeholders. This role also provides essential support to Program Managers within the Fleet Projects department, assisting with project documentation, status tracking, and progress reporting.

 

Success in this role requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. By collaborating with senior project managers and leveraging project management tools, the Junior Project Manager helps maintain project momentum and ensure successful outcomes.

 

This position is primarily remote but requires periodic travel to vessel locations in Africa and Europe. Candidates must be comfortable working across time zones and coordinating with diverse international teams.

 

How You’ll Contribute

  • Plan, execute, and close small projects, ensuring objectives are achieved within time and budget constraints while meeting quality standards and aligning with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements, and develop detailed project plans outlining tasks, timelines, and dependencies while proactively addressing potential bottlenecks.
  • Track project progress, manage deliverables, and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful execution, using project management tools to monitor key metrics and maintain efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues, conducting risk assessments and implementing contingency plans while escalating critical concerns to senior management when necessary.
  • Coordinate and maintain effective communication among project team members, stakeholders, and third-party vendors, ensuring alignment on goals and updates through regular meetings, reports, and documentation.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports, highlighting key accomplishments, challenges, and milestones, and ensure comprehensive, organized project documentation for future reference, audits, and knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations, capturing lessons learned and opportunities for improvement, and recommend process enhancements to optimize future project execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support programmatic and operational success, demonstrating flexibility and a problem-solving mindset in dynamic project environments.

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, including Waterfall, and hybrid approaches as applicable.
  • Proficiency in project planning and monitoring tools such as MS Project, Excel, Asana, or other relevant platforms, with the ability to leverage these tools for scheduling, resource allocation, and reporting.

    Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, or a related field(or equivalent work experience), demonstrating a strong foundation in project coordination and execution.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) preferred, or other relevant project management certification.
  • Proven experience managing small projects, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget, while coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and operational structure.
