The Hospitality Team Lead at Mercy Ships International Office ensures exceptional hospitality and guest experiences. This role involves managing various facets of hospitality operations, including housing, guest services, reception, breakrooms, janitorial services, event coordination, and general maintenance. Team lead is dedicated to creating a welcoming and organized environment that supports Mercy Ships' mission. Daily activities of maintenance team members at the International Support Center (ISC).

 

How You’ll Contribute

Housing & Guest Services:

  • Approach all encounter with guests and employees in a welcoming manner.
  • Thoroughly clean and restock accommodations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and readiness are maintained.
  • Launder Bedding/Towels/Linens.
  • Monitor food and beverage inventories in accommodations, ensuring timely communication of orders to Sous Chef.
  • Schedule and deliver supplies and groceries to guest accommodations.

    Reception, Breakrooms & Janitorial Services:

  • Support reception and visitor processing to ensure a seamless and welcoming experience.
  • Follow visitor safety procedures by logging campus guests and provide visitor badges as required.
  • Clean and restock conference rooms.
  • Monitor inventories of breakroom supplies, place orders, and schedule stockings to maintain adequate provisions.
  • Regular inspections of office spaces and communal areas should be conducted to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are upheld.

    Food & Event Services:

  • Under the direction of the ISC Hospitality Manager, lead the team in event setups, executions, and teardowns.
  • Barista services: take orders accurately, prepare specialty drinks and food items.
  • Assist kitchen staff with serving food and in dish room.
  • Follow food safety protocols through maintaining temperature logs, waste logs, and sanitation.

    General Maintenance:

  • Track, schedule, and oversee general maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

    Other Duties:

  • Ensure staff adheres to daily schedule and assignments.
  • Conduct routine inspections and task completion with standards of excellence.
  • When needed, provide mentoring to promote best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the hospitality team and overall operations.

  • Strong customer service mindset with a positive attitude and approach, dedicated to creating outstanding guest experiences.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior management.
  • Solid understanding of business and management principles, particularly in a hospitality context.
  • General knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, with strong organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to carry out the abovementioned tasks, including lifting and moving supplies as needed.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for multiple hours; lift up to 25lbs.
  • Commitment to Mercy Ships' mission, vision, and core values, with a demonstrated ability to apply servant leadership principles, work collaboratively with integrity, and establish accountability.

    Education & Experience

  • Previous experience in Hotel/Hospitality & Events Management preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Texas Food Handler's Certification is required.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
