Mercy Ships is a global faith-based charity that uses hospital ships to bring life-changing surgeries and transformational medical training to people in some of the most challenging contexts along the African coast. For over 40 years, Mercy Ships has been delivering lasting hope and healing through safe surgical care, while working alongside partners and stakeholders to strengthen local healthcare systems in more than 55 countries. Since the inception of this dream by founders Don and Deyon Stephens in 1978, Mercy Ships has served more than 2.7 million direct beneficiaries without regard for race, gender, or religion.
This is a full-time on-site role located in Lindale, TX.

As a Maintenance Foreman, you will oversee and coach the daily activities of maintenance team members at the International Support Center (ISC).
How You’ll Contribute
- Oversee the team of Maintenance Technicians, training, and working alongside them as needed.
- Verify that the completed task/work is completed on time and meets expectations.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in planning the overall maintenance program for the site which may include scheduling and overseeing routine tasks and projects.
- Maintain, organize, prioritize, assign and update daily work tickets (JIRA). Any ticket over 7 days old should be updated with inline comments that explain the delay.
- Provide and review Jira report with maintenance manager weekly.
- Work with IT to provide any needed Jira system improvements.
- Manages day-to-day volunteer services for Facilities.
- Maintains accurate Inventory of supplies (tools, equipment, and materials) to ensure that sufficient quantities are available, and tools are kept in safe, workable condition.
- Keep Maintenance Manager apprised of any situation which may impact the smooth operations of the site.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the ISC Freshwater and Wastewater systems and assure compliance with the TCEQ.

The Ideal Candidate
- Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision and committed to its core values.
- Good communication skills are essential to keep the maintenance team organized and working in a prioritized fashion, whilst also keeping the Facilities Director apprised of ongoing projects.
- Must have administrative and leadership skills and an understanding of the budgetary process.
- Must have a WORKING knowledge of building construction/carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
- Must have a WORKING knowledge of wood working machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. Also, the ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Must have a GENERAL knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Must have basic computer skills, such as sending and receiving e-mails, searching the Internet, basic word processing and spreadsheets and how to use and maintain a database (JIRA- work order / maintenance system).
- Ability to trouble shoot and inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of problems or defects.
- Must undertake new employee & job specific safety training provided by Mercy Ships.
- Responsible for ensuring that staff receive and abide by appropriate safety training.
- Knowledge of basic OSHA guidelines and requirements.
- Live within 30 miles of ISC Campus, on call 24 hours/day (with the exception of approved PTO days).
- Holds a current valid US driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain Class D Freshwater and Class C Wastewater. Over see these systems and maintain regulatory compliance with TCEQ, if required.

Education & Experience
- Previous work-related skill, knowledge, and 5 years experience is required.
- High School Diploma required. Some vocational training or other job-related course work is preferred.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
