**Compensation Range for This Position Is $72,000 - $77,900

 

Mercy Ships is seeking a Global Brand PR Manager to lead the development and execution of an integrated public relations strategy that strengthens the Mercy Ships brand, elevates global awareness, and safeguards the organization’s reputation.

 

This role crafts compelling narratives that highlight patient transformation, volunteer impact, programmatic milestones, and partnerships, while managing aspects of international media engagement. The PR Manager ensures message consistency across global markets and leads earned media initiatives that advance the mission of Mercy Ships.

 

The ideal candidate has strong crisis communications experience, a deep understanding of how digital media integrates with earned media strategies, ability to manage international teams, and cultivate relationships with global media outlets.

 

How You’ll Contribute

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and lead the global PR strategy in alignment with the Mercy Ships brand, mission, and values.
  • Manage and mentor the Global PR team within the Global Brand Department.
  • Serve as the primary PR lead in global brand meetings, strategic planning sessions, and campaign development.

    Media Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international, faith-based, health, and nonprofit media.
  • Proactively pitch stories that enhance brand awareness and support fundraising and recruitment goals.
  • Manage all inbound media inquiries, media visits, and coordinate interview logistics for on-ship and off-ship requests.

    Content Development

  • Draft press releases, talking points, executive briefings, and FAQs for global campaigns and national offices.
  • Oversee writing projects with APO and manage related contracts.

    Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor media coverage, sentiment, and brand mentions using Meltwater and other tools.
  • Analyze PR performance data and share results with the Senior Director of Global Brand.
  • Update critical data monthly for internal reporting and board meetings.

    Global Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead PR Gatherings to equip and inspire national office teams.
  • Provide media training and guidance to staff and leadership across regions.
  • Liaise with Country Engagement Teams and government contacts (e.g., Ministers of Health) to align messaging for organizational milestones (e.g., ship arrivals, departures).

    Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Coordinate with national offices to promote the use of brand and editorial guidelines.
  • Advise on crisis communication strategies and support key messaging during sensitive or high-stakes moments.

    Vendor & Tool Management

  • Oversee Meltwater and APO relationships and contracts.
  • Support and train offices in using Meltwater to expand earned media opportunities.

Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
