This role requires working in UTC time or within one hour of UTC

This is a FULL TIME, REMOTE opportunity. 

Mercy Ships is seeking a Vice President, Finance to serve remotely. In this position you'll be responsible for the Mercy Ships Finance function across non-US based operations as well as overarching FP&A responsibility.

 

This position REQUIRES experience working with financial practices within Africa AND either Europe or the US.  

 

How You’ll Contribute

  • Ensure Finance is seen as a critical and outward facing business partner providing strategic support across Mercy Ships.
  • Ensure the AFM & GLM finance teams deliver the operational and programmatic support to ship-based departments required for efficient ship activities.
  • Develop timely and relevant finance support to Country Engagement & Project teams working in Africa.
  • Support development of onshore Africa Service center finance function.
  • Build and develop the existing Fund Management in coordination with International Programs and National Offices.
  • Establish closer links between National Office teams and MSI.
  • Gather financial data for analysis and forecasting with respect to revenue streams, trends, expenses, and compliance.
  • Lead and manage the budgeting process, including BOD presentations and related commentary.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly reports.
  • Develop appropriate tracking methods for revenue and expenses.
  • Manage insurance coverage for the organization, including compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external treasury and banking partners.
  • Drive process improvement across Finance through internal reviews and working with external partners.
  • Monitor and deliver cost saving opportunities for Mercy Ships.
  • Manage staffing to maximize team well-being and efficient functionality.
  • Supervise, encourage, and coach direct reports.
  • Provide regular feedback and spiritual leadership as necessary to ensure the team is functioning effectively

    Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
  • Experience working in financial leadership roles across a range of organizations.
  • Experience in financial planning and business partnering.
  • Experience conveying complex financial information to a range of diverse stakeholders.
  • 8+ years Senior Management experience.
