**Compensation Range for This Position Is $90,000 - $95,000

This is a full-time, REMOTE position

 

Mercy Ships is seeking a Accommodation Maintenance Superintendent to serve remotely. The Accommodation Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for operational support and management of the hospital equipment, hotel services and related infrastructure systems across the company’s fleet. This role ensures reliable, safe and efficient operation of shipboard facilities through effective coordination, maintenance planning and contractor management.

 

How You’ll Contribute

  • Oversee and support the operation and maintenance of shipboard accommodation, galley, laundry, hospital equipment and related infrastructure.
  • Support vessel teams in planning and executing the annual maintenance phases, including coordinating major repairs and contractor work.
  • Maintain and improve the planned maintenance system (PMS) for hospital and hotel systems.
  • Oversee and support the onboard management of the maintenance request system (JIRA) for hospital and hotel systems.
  • Develop and maintain key performance metrics to improve maintenance planning and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with vessel Technical Superintendents, Marine Projects and onboard management to plan and execute shipboard maintenance, modifications and refits.
  • Develop, review and update operating procedures, risk assessments and checklists to ensure safe and efficient maintenance practices.
  • Maintain and improve the Company Safety Management System.
  • Develop annual maintenance budgets and manage expenses within approved limits.
  • Support People & Culture in the evaluation of candidates for onboard hospital and hotel technical roles.
  • Contribute to the training and professional development of office and shipboard personnel.
  • Support vendor and partnership development efforts in collaboration with Corporate Relations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

     

    The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing galley, laundry and hospital equipment systems.
  • Familiar with maritime conventions codes and standards that apply to installation and maintenance of ships as well as regulatory codes pertaining to hospital equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within complex regulatory environments requiring advanced planning due to long-lead times of vendors and parts.
  • Experience with maintenance planning and supporting software.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally (documentation / physical)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in the cruise ship industry or similar experience in large hotel/large facility/hospital in maintenance management
  • Background with training and experience in maintenance of Hotels, Hospitals, Office/Apartment blocks, and Factories would be considered.
