**This is an on site role located in Lindale, Texas.
Mercy Ships is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide hands-on support working on various tasks within the International Support Center (ISC) Facilities Department. Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
How You’ll Contribute
- Helps to maintain the ISC Campus in an attractive, comfortable condition.
- Assists in all types of maintenance, as requested by the Facilities Operations Manager and Maintenance Lead Technician.
- Assists in completing the turnovers/make-readies of vacant units, as requested.
- On-call per scheduling to handle maintenance emergencies from residents and property emergencies.
- Assists with the preparation of events, as requested.
- Services general plumbing and basic electrical needs of the property including replacing/fixing toilets, light switches, garbage disposals, ceiling fans, etc.
- Performs corrective and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned in a computer-based ticketing system to the satisfaction of staff and guests and outlined by the Facilities Operations Manager and Maintenance Lead Technician.
- Assists in maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
- Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts. Rakes and bags or burns leaves as requested.
- Observe the condition of the property in general and report any unusual circumstances.
- Makes regular inspections of the grounds, buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances, and major equipment, as directed.
- Should be familiar with the location of power, water, and gas turnoff valves, clean-out traps, fire extinguishers, and fire hydrants on the property.
- Enters occupied offices and residential properties to perform necessary repairs.
- Cleans up thoroughly after performing work.
- Operates mowing equipment to cut lawns. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
- Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
- Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawnmowers, spreaders, golf carts, mules, or vehicles.
- Notifies the Facilities Operations Manager and/or Maintenance Lead Technician of any supplies needed to complete service requests.
- Performs pool and spa maintenance, as directed.
- Follows company procedures regarding safety and emergencies.
- Attends employee meetings and training seminars, as requested.
- Wears company uniform and badge during work hours.
- Assist Water/Waste Water plant as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
- General Carpentry skills
- Paint and sheetrock repair abilities
- Basic understanding of electrical and plumbing systems
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of basic lawn care and landscaping.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to work efficiently while unsupervised
- Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Ability to do frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20-50 lbs. Examples include moving furniture, appliances, and heavy machinery correctly and safely.
- Ability to do frequent climbing. Examples include ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc., in addition to using feet, legs, hands, and/or arms.
- Ability to do frequent kneeling and crouching.
- Ability to obtain Class D Water/Waste Water certification.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperature extremes.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Hold a Texas Drivers License that is valid and in good standing.
- One year of job-related experience is preferred.
- Experience with electrical, HVAC, welding, and/or small engine repair preferred.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
