Lead the Procurement team and oversee the development of vendor relationships in the acquisition of products used on Mercy Ships' vessels, as well as the International Support Center.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Build relationships with potential vendors and donors by sharing Mercy Ships' mission and vision of hope and healing in a way that inspires them.

  • Manage the ISC (International Support Center) Procurement team and implement continuous improvement activities that ensure processes are efficient, effective, and compliant with applicable laws and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Develop, lead and coordinate procurement efforts of the matrix organization for the acquisition of supplies for all vessels, offices, and land based operations.

  • Negotiate to ensure 'best value' and 'lowest landed cost' are achieved for all procurement, whether gift in kind (GIK) or purchase.

  • Establish, manage, and nurture vendor and donor relationships (corporate or individuals), in partnership with Resource Development, which contribute supplies and equipment. Keep contact information current. Manage vendor research, needs analysis with internal stakeholders, and negotiations for potential purchases.

  • Develop relationships across departmental lines.

  • Partner with Finance to ensure proper procurement authorizations and records are effectively stored and maintained.

  • Monitor expenditures against departmental budget and plans. Prepares budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources.

  • Manage departmental and employee management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies which include: planning, hiring, assigning, training and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Manage supply chain data for accurate tracking and monitoring of products, specifically standardized product lists, item valuation, and vendor master data.
