Surgical Staffing Coordinator
Summary:  Available Immediately

Works closely with Staffing Manager in processing all volunteer applications. Serves as the liaison between the applicant and the Department Head until the applicant begins service or is denied placement.
Description:  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

  • Notify applicant in a timely manner of receipt of application and inform them of any parts of the application that may be missing.
  • Coordinate medical, chaplain, consultant and departmental reviews of application as needed. Ensuring all are completed in a timely manner
  • Track all applications that are assigned, ensuring that all are duly processed and not overlooked.
  • Work closely with applicants to ensure they are aware of their status and answer questions regarding service with Mercy Ships.
  • Keep staffing plans up to date and accurate
  • Accurately update records in HR database (Vista)
  • Keep stakeholders updated on applicant's progress, including national offices and department heads.
  • Send final acceptance or denial letter. 
  • Send immigration & visa waiver forms
  • Follow up on all email and phone inquiries

     Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements)

  • Good computer skills and detail oriented is a must. Ability to learn custom systems and applications.
  • Enthusiastic and relational approach to work with volunteers and colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills required - both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks based on the urgency of need.
  • Knowledge of standard office environment.
  • Ability to change and grow as systems are implemented to support the infrastructure of the HR process.
  • Organize work to embrace and participate in a well-functioning, productive, creative and collegial team

    Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma required.
    • Mercy Ships experience is preferred but not required.
    • Experience within the Human Resources field is preferred but not required.
