VP International Programs
Summary:  The Vice President of International Programs (VPIP) supports the mission of Mercy Ships by providing strategic vision across international programs. Leads the Programmatic functions to design high impact Programs to improve access to safe, surgical care in Africa.  Provides oversight to the Programs Design, Monitoring and Evaluation, Direct Clinical Services and Medical Capacity Building and works collaboratively with the Africa Regional Office to support execution. In coordination and partnership with other key stakeholders responsible for developing, aligning, and driving systems, processes and capabilities needed to deliver measurable improvement in access to safe, surgical care in Africa by utilizing hospitals ships.

This post is based at Mercy Ships International Support Center (ISC) in Texas and will involve a significant amount of international travel.
Description:  

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

  • Plans, directs, coordinates, reviews and monitors International Program activities 
  • Coordinates and presents project proposals and executive summaries and assessment reports. 
  • Carries out Programs’ management responsibilities. 
  • Prepares and administers budgets and plans the work for International Programs. Establishes and controls budgets by monitoring costs, operations and forecast data to determine adherence to set projections. 
  • Provides supervision to program personnel including offsite/onsite medical and program consultants. 
  • Solicits strategic partnerships and develops related long-term plans. 
  • Oversees the Assessment and Advance Teams and identifies program opportunities. 
  • Oversees Mercy Teams.
  •  Assures alignment of ship operational functions with program objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned
