Summary Description

Responsible for contributing to strategic internal and external communications in support of Mercy Ships. This includes internal communications, and public relations and marketing communications materials for a wide range of communication channels, including Web and print materials, e-mail marketing, press releases and social media.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

• Eloquent story teller – presenting the need of our patients with dignity.
• Convey Mercy Ships funding needs in a compelling manner.
• Write and edit text for marketing projects, such as newsletters, direct mail, ads, and donor letters.
• Review final marketing materials and social media.
• Mentor writers on-board the ship, edit patient stories, and post approved stories to Mercy Ships intranet (Navigator). 
• Provide input regarding writing guidelines and editing processes.
• Assist in planning marketing projects.

   

  Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Requirements)

• An accomplished writer
• Strong administrative skills and people skills are essential.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Exceptionally accurate writing and editing skills, including a thorough understanding of grammar and usage
• Research skills
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of English usage and grammar and effective writing skills. Demonstrate good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Donor centered communications preferred.
• Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision, and committed to its core values.
• Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability

   

  Education And Experience

• High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field preferred.
• One year experience in similar type work and/or one year or more experience with Mercy Ships.
