Training Facilitator Kids On Boarding
Summary:  Assist in the planning and implementation of introductory and entry-level training for all Mercy Ships staff and crew, with an emphasis on Kids On Boarding (KOB) facilitation when needed. All training must support Mercy Ships’ mission, vision and core values in a diverse multi-cultural, multi-generational environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

General On Boarding duties: 

  • Assist in coordinating preparations for the On Boarding program.
  • Develop, adapt, and facilitate delivery of effective introductory training for all Mercy Ships locations, as needed.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure that entry-level training are consistent with learning goals and continue to meet the needs of Mercy Ships.
  • Coordinate preparations for training, as needed.
  • Assist in the assessment of the needs of stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Design or adapt curricula for a multi-cultural audience, using adult learning principles.
  • Facilitate classroom sessions and when possible small groups.
  • Work with the Staff Development team to create online resources.
  • Seek regular feedback on the effectiveness of training programs and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Travel to other Mercy Ships locations, as needed, to facilitate and coordinate training programs.
  • Model core values with staff and students.
  • May be asked to collaborate on on-going staff development projects, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Kids On Boarding Duties (KOB) duties: 

  • Serve as On Boarding liaison for KOB staff, parents, nannies, Academy staff, etc.
  • Direct and implement KOB ages 5-12 (K-6) using set curriculum and adapting when necessary.
  • Using a set criteria and in collaboration with the On Boarding Director, determine if a KOB program will be needed prior to each On Boarding.
  • Hire and supervise KOB staff.
  • Assess implication of families in each On Boarding program, working closely with the Child Safety Evaluate Child Safety implications and manage Child Safety process
  • If applicable, create an alternative “Mini-KOB” for each On Boarding family group, specifically during a non-KOB On Boarding.
  • Evaluate KOB program annually and make adjustments accordingly.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements)

  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development; affinity for teaching both children and adults.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and ability to adapt training to a multi-cultural, multi-generational environment.
  • Good organizational skills and able to work independently in a flexible setting.
  • Good problem solving skills (including conflict resolution skills)
  • Able to relate well to other staff members and participants.
  • Able to think strategically in design and implementation of programs.
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Willing and able to travel to international countries, as needed
  • Meet all expectations set forth by the Human Resource and Staff Development Departments.

Education and Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 3+ years’ experience in education, preferably experience with multiple age groups
  • Experience working with the Mercy Ships Academy, preferred
