Maritime Recruiter 
Summary:  Responsible for recruiting qualified Technical volunteers, developing a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EXTERNAL

  • Recruit qualified applicants to address critical needs and regularly challenging positions, in alignment with strategic planning goals.
  • Develop an extensive network of potential candidates via multiple channels, raising awareness of Mercy Ships volunteer opportunities throughout.
  • Research and grow applicant sources, establishing relationships and seed-planting initiatives with maritime academies, training centers, seaman’s churches, and other relevant organizations.
  • Develop relationships with other maritime recruiters and manning agencies who may be willing to advertise our volunteer positions to their networks.
  • Promote Mercy Ships through conferences, job fairs, university events, and seminars; submitting leads for follow-up.
  • Recommend advertising venues such as magazines, professional journals, and websites for effective public relations.
  • Some overnight travel required.

INTERNAL

  • Maintain current knowledge of Mercy Ships’ departments, policies and procedures in regard to minimum commitments and requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with Department Heads, Staffing Managers, and Volunteer coordinators to ensure candidates provided are satisfactorily qualified and support a smooth workflow.
  • Track and report key metrics to measure efficiency and effectiveness of recruitment activities.
  • Research and recommend new sources and techniques for more effective recruiting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
