Programs Data Management Director
Summary:  Responsibility to ensure that strong management information and centralized reporting processes are put in place, and that reports on KPI performance are regularly submitted to the VP of IP. Progress reporting, financial analysis and documentation in conjunction with the Global Programs Fund management team, risk and compliance management, and planning and prioritization in the efficient allocation of resources to generate the most impact are other responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

Core

  • Drives with an emphasis on creating centralized responsibility for data integrity, reporting and business intelligence within the Global International Programs department.
  • Operate as a senior level planner, facilitator and promoter of data analysis while championing processes and systems that will improve the program's ability to use data to make informed-decisions for Programs Design.
  • Drives improvement and better integration within the programs data management internal organization, processes, systems and programming that demonstrates best practice in stewardship of resources.
  • Identifies appropriate department level owners of various data at every location, and coordinates the necessary training and support on these function (i.e. within International Programs, Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, and National Offices).
  • Provide leadership with information regarding performance pertaining to specific objective, performance indicators, planning, budgeting, operating procedures and advice of areas of risk.
  • Contributes to decisions pertaining to strategic (change) initiatives, operating model, and operational execution within our country programs.
  • Collaborates closely with the IS department to ensure alignment with the Technology Roadmap, and in support with departmental and organizational priorities, policies and procedures.
  • Leads the programs data team enabling them to deliver the highest standard of departmental, interdepartmental, and cross-organizational teamwork and service.
  • Maintain and develop a network of consulting experts in clinical informatics and within the Healthcare IT environment.

Leadership

  • Use servant leadership and strong inter-personal skills to motivate and develop an effective, creative and collegial team.
  • Strategic-level, audacious leader, able to develop the vision where Mercy Ships should be going in order to most effectively and sustainably organize and structure the programs data management domain.
  • Proactively lead and invest in the development of team members, providing training, guidance, and feedback, to support each team member in the achieving their goals and a high-level of job satisfaction.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection of new staff, complete performance reviews, and maintain development plans and succession plans.
  • Demonstrate collaborative leadership, effectively working with peers and other leaders inside and outside International Programs.

Management

  • Provide ongoing direction to subordinate managers to ensure resources are well coordinated and all issues are appropriately communicated.
  • Oversees the development of policies, administrative guidelines and standard operating procedures in this area of responsibility.
  • Ensure execution of International Programs plans, policies and priorities within the area of responsibility.
  • Develop and review budgets for the area of responsibility to ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Provide cross-functional assistance on an as needed basis to other programmatic areas within Mercy Ships.

Performance

  • Regularly search for and identify opportunities for delivering high customer satisfaction (to i.e. National Offices, Advancement, MSI, etc.).
  • Demonstrate year-over-year quality and process improvements, resulting in improved efficiency, increased productivity and/or cost reduction opportunities.
  • Establish metrics to monitor performance of the area of responsibility, and ensure operational metrics are collected and reviewed on a regular basis with the VP IP.
  • Proactively stay well-versed on programmatic / global surgery developments and initiatives, providing guidance and recommendations to peers and the VP IP.

External stakeholders

  • Represents Mercy Ships faith-based identity with authority and grace.
  • Positions Mercy Ships as an organization of choice for excellence in program policy, delivery and support for both institutional and individual donors.
  • Supports the corporate relations department in positioning Mercy Ships with external stakeholders, including the media and Christian stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

     The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Technology Education, Education with Technology related coursework or another equivalent field; an advanced degree in any of these, or related field is preferred.
  • At least five years of related leadership and management experience.
  • Coursework or training in data analysis and visualization; knowledge of coding/programming preferred.
  • Experience with customer service, client/server and centralized and cloud-based computing models preferred.
  • Experience in managing multiple complex systems; project management coursework or training preferred.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
