Summary Description

Oversee the HR functions at the International Operations Center (ISC) – ensuring that all staff are effectively recruited, guided and proactively supported in the areas of HR policies, processes and career development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Manage the global recruitment, hiring, and management of all Mercy Ships Operations staff and contracted employees.
  • Educate and assist staff in HR policies, systems, processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Supervise the HR Generalist to ensure routine HR duties are executed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Coordination of benefits.
  • Acquisition and tracking of completed performance reviews
  • Departmental and location transfers
  • Hiring, transferring, and termination system processes
  • Work with Staff Recruiter to develop and implement a robust full cycle recruitment process and applicant tracking system.
  • In conjunction the VP of HR and with guidance from legal counsel, ensure that all employment practices, compensation, employee benefits, meet legal requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain management tools including monthly metrics, HR budget, etc.
  • Assess and make recommendations regarding compensation and benefits in respect to recruiting and retaining employees.
  • Participate as a member of the Housing Committee.
  • Oversee PTO and LOA, including the approval of negative PTO and LOA requests.
  • In conjunction with the VP of HR and the Chaplains Office, administer policies and procedures in order to resolve harassment, grievance, and other personnel issues.
  • Develop and implement orientation and integration process for new staff.
  • Oversee exit interview process, analyzing results, suggesting changes to VP of Human Resources.
