Instructional Designer
Summary:  Collaborates with subject matter experts on design of training materials and how-to guides. All training will be designed in accordance with Mercy Ships’ mission, vision and core values
Description:  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Partners with subject matter experts to develop and implement training materials
  • Apply adult learning design principles to create training and how-to-guides
  • Collaborate with departments to analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate training materials
  • Design and assess all training programs for accordance with Mercy Ships’ ethos and quality standards
  • Create instructional content using eLearning development software
  • Works with all areas of the organization to plan new instructional content and strategize how to execute it most efficiently in order to achieve the desired outcomes of training initiatives.
  • Scale and tailor writing styles as needed to pivot to diverse audiences and multiple deliverables
  • Analyze learning needs based on consultation with people managers and subject matter experts
  • Build partnerships and maintain meaningful relationships with key stakeholders
  • Develop engaging and interactive content for a variety of formats, including blended eLearning/Instructor-led (ILT), social learning, mobile learning, simulation, and/or printed material
  • Other duties as assigned, including support of other Mercy Ships training programs

Education and Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience working in Learning Management Systems, preferred
  • Experience working in Enterprise Content Management System, or similar, preferred
