QHSE Compliance Coordinator
Summary:  The Marine Operations Assistant Safety Manager is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager and maintaining and improving the company safety management system.
Description:  
What you'll contribute: 
Safety Management
    - Assist the Safety Manager in providing a continuous communication link between each ship and the company
 
    - Support the Safety Manager in duties related to the Crisis Management Team
 
    - Serve as DPA and fill that role for the Crisis Management Team in the absence of the Safety Manger
 
    - Manage crew and emergency contact lists from each ship
 
Operations
    - Manage all voyage and noon reports from each ship underway
 
    - Plan and coordinate drills as required
 
    - Monitor and manage Safety Management Report Forms (SMRF) and Risk Assessments
 
    - Support safety management reviews and master’s reviews
 
    - Conduct crew candidate technical reviews as required
 
    - Track onboard crew working hours
 
    - Track expiry dates of ships certificates as required
 
Documentation & Review
    - Plan and conduct shipboard/office audits as required
 
    - Draft and revise SMS documents as required
 
    - Monitor upcoming Class & Flag legislation and plan for implementation of relevant changes
 
    - Conduct SMS familiarization for incoming officers as required
 
    - Conduct monthly Marine Operations SMS checklist
 
    - Other duties as assigned
 
 
For this role you'll need:
    - Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) from four-year College or University; or four years related industry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
    - Certificate of Competency in accordance with STCW A-II/2 or A-11/1 preferred.
 
    - Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.

    - Marine Operations Ship Management System (DNV ShipManager)
 
    - Mercy Ships intranet (Navigator)
 
    - Human Resources Management System (Vista)
 
Marine Experience
    - Familiar with STCW and flag state certification requirements for mariners
 
    - Familiar with MLC requirements
 
    - Maintain an in depth working knowledge of the Company SMS
 
    - Complete an ISM internal auditor course

    - Ability to forecast needs and plan ahead for unexpected changes

    - Ability to travel nationally and internationally while meeting medical travel requirements
