Crewing Manager
Summary:  Manage the staffing and training requirements of technical personnel onboard company ships working in conjunction with human resources and the maritime training center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Liaise with Human Resources on behalf of Marine Operations
  • Communicate marine staffing/recruiting needs to Human Resources
  • Evaluate marine candidates proposed by Human Resources:
  • Review Talent Pipeline candidates as requested
  • Support HR recruitment and interviews as required
  • Complete HR technical reviews
  • Verify validity of certification and qualification of incoming and current marine crew (STCW, Flag State, and company requirements)
  • Submit training requests to the maritime training center
  • Track certificate expirations for mariners and minimum safe manning levels
  • Monitor crew on vacation & LOA that may require passport and/or certificate renewals
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Company Safety Management System (SMS) and assist the Safety Manager to ensure safe working practices are followed on Company Ships
  • Monitor compliance with STCW work and rest hour requirements
  • Support training and certification of maritime crew:
  • Identify crew training needs to comply with Flag State, STCW, and company requirements
  • Liaise with the Mercy Ships Maritime Training Center (MTC) to provide training to crew
  • Collaborate with Nautical Operations Manager on advancement training for maritime crew
  • Monitor provision of training and supporting services
  • Serve as customer advocate for crew receiving training from the MTC by monitoring
