Development Associate Major Gifts
Summary:  Support the work of the Major Gifts department with donor research and communications, data input and reporting, and administrative support. The opportunity is for a U.S. Southeast based WFH remote position must live in (VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, TN) area.  
The Development Associate position is a new position that will play a key role in providing business and administrative support for a growing team of Major Gifts Regional Development Managers and the Director of Development.  The right candidate will manage data reporting, conduct donor research and assist with donor qualification and communications. They must be capable of prioritizing and managing a busy workflow from several individuals.  Utilizing strong analytical and organizational skills, this individual will help develop and execute data reporting procedures that will facilitate improved workflow and analytics for the Major Gifts team. This individual must be capable of interacting and communicating effectively with major donors and other partners and demonstrate excellent teamwork skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include but Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 


  • Support the Major Gift Officers’ caseload of donors by handling Major Gift correspondence and updating donor files within the donor database, including uploading mass adds for touch points.
  • Will assist team with donor research and finding contact information for qualification process, using search tools provided as well as social media and other public information to provide background and identify opportunities for RDM team to review and cultivate.
  • Will produce and maintain tracking reports for the Major Gift Officers, including updating monthly giving.
  • Will assist with appointment scheduling, ordering supplies or travel planning for MGO team as needed.
  • Will keep a record of secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and offers, proposals and asks that will be used for donor calls by the Major Gift Officers.
  • Will perform other support functions as may be required including creating monthly reports, as required by management, which accurately reflect department activity and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated record of handling calls, correspondence and internal operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with emphasis on accuracy.
  • Strong problem solving, training and personal management skills. Must have initiative and have ability to follow through with little direct supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
  • Proficiency in database entry and management for donor relationships.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word computer software.
