Global Culinary Manager
Summary:  This role is responsible for the culinary quality, service, and experience of the operation located in Lindale Texas, in addition to oversight of foodservice operations for both Africa Mercy and Global Mercy. Our ideal candidate motivates, trains, develops, and directs team members to deliver delicious, nutritious food, exceptional service, and accomplishes daily goals and projects.

This position oversees daily administrative and operational tasks, including management and analysis, sanitation, and safety.

Global Culinary Manager will focus on culinary execution and the guest experience to support operational excellence. This position will leverage their strong hospitality and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders (hospitality services, procurement, risk management and facilities operations) to promote standards, food expectations and enhance user (partner and guest) experience.  The Global Culinary Manager would be expected to foster a liaison between Mercy Ships International Support Center and Mercy Ships Fleet of Ships, specifically in the foodservice / hospitality department, fortifying collaboration within the organization.  Additionally, bi-annual travel to both Africa Mercy and Global Mercy would be anticipated.

  • Develop menu and production / prep expectations and guides, opening/closing checklist, and responsibility guides
  • Coordinate, plan, participate, and supervise the production, preparation, and presentation of food at all locations.

  • Establish priorities and execute against them based on long-term vision
  • Set an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging

    What we look for in the perfect candidate:

  • Degree in Culinary Arts preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred
  • Has a minimum of 2 years kitchen supervisory experience or applicable culinary experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks and consistently meet deadlines
  • Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
