Responsible for the ongoing operation, innovation, and strategic alignment of all software products associated with one of Mercy Ships’ three core value streams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

Core

  • Lead a tribe in the development of product vision, business empathy, agile practices, and technical expertise.
  • Set and execute product strategies for software associated with the assigned value stream, balancing organizational direction with Mercy Ships’ desired enterprise architecture.
  • Collaborate with business functions to identify needs, prioritize desired platform changes, roadmap activities, and resolve cross-functional or cross-project conflicts.
  • Participate in governance discussions, lead relevant steering/working groups, and ensure stakeholders are consistently informed and engaged.
  • Maintain roadmaps for the assigned value stream and its respective user groups, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with project management functions in the planning and coordination of projects, including setting scope, identifying objectives, and realizing success.
  • Support budget planning and manage assigned budget.
  • Provide status reports as requested.
  • Escalate issues and risks to senior leadership and business stakeholders as necessary.

Management

  • Set clear priorities for the tribe in alignment with Mercy Ships’ defined objectives.
  • Strategically manage the tribe’s proportion of staff, contract labor, and contract services for projects, enhancements, and run and maintain activities.
  • Manage vendor partnerships, including setting scopes of work and ensuring delivery of agreed products and services.

Leadership

  • Use servant leadership and strong inter-personal skills to motivate and develop an effective, creative, and collegial team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all partners, applying Mercy Ships core values as the cornerstone of all actions and communication.
  • Proactively lead and invest in the development of assigned team members.
  • Act as a team player, using principles from Crucial Conversations to ensure strong and open working relationships.
  • Protect information assets controlled within the IS systems, applications, or infrastructure, as defined in Mercy Ships policies and procedures.

Performance

  • Regularly search for and identify opportunities to deliver high customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate year-over-year quality and process improvements, resulting in improved efficiency, increased productivity and/or cost reduction opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
