Regional Development Manager
Summary:  Cultivates and manages relationships with Mercy Ships financial partners (major donors) for the purpose of raising large gifts, pledges, and letters of intent (LOI) to advance the mission of the organization from the Southeast Region. Working with assigned major donor individuals, family foundations, or select organizations within an assigned geographical region utilizing a donor-centric and planned approach to stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation.  Raises large gifts, pledges, and letters of intent (LOI), from individuals, family foundations, selected corporate foundations, and corporations within Southeast region of the United States.

The Southeast Region includes GA, NC, and SC.  Candidates must have held residency in the region for a minimum of 5 years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for the personalized contact and moves management plans of between 100 - 150 donors and prospects within an assigned geography. The RDM is expected to meet with 10 to 12 assigned donors and prospects per month.  This caseload includes existing donors in the Mercy Ships database, plus selected high net worth individuals, family foundations, and privately-held companies that are prospective donors.
  • The RDM works with team management to develop a gift cultivation and solicitation plan for each donor, and may work with senior leadership and selected board members strategically to engage donors.
  • Prepare and submit necessary business travel plans for each quarter for approval by the supervisor.
  • Research and qualify new donor prospects and add names to the caseload and database when appropriate.
  • Continually update the database by entering new information gathered from donor interactions and other public sources. Include giving capacity, preferences, interests, relationships, and motivation data germane to establishing a growing relationship. The database remains the property of Mercy Ships.
  • Create and submit monthly progress report spreadsheet to evaluate progress on goals and objectives. Reports reflect the financial goal for each prospect, plan for the coming quarter, and donor interaction summary.
