Summary Description
Manage the staffing and training process for Academy and Staff Development personnel onboard Mercy Ships vessels in collaboration with Human Resources and the Learning & Development team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Review applications for Learning & Development volunteer positions, including Academy and Staff Development, and using review tools and processes.
• Verify education, qualifications, references, and language competency levels.
• Facilitate and coordinate interviews with applicants and key constituents.
• Maintain and update applicant portal notes and interview notes.
• Coordinate child safety review process, including verifying background checks, contacting references, conducting child safety interviews, and monitoring completion of child safety training.
• Maintain an understanding of the current Talent Community for Learning and Development
• Work closely with stakeholders at all locations to understand the workforce needs of each team.
• Maintain staffing forecasts for 2 years in advance.
• Collaborate with the Talent Management team and advocate for the needs of the onboard. Academy and Staff Development teams, partnering in targeted recruiting events.
• Centrally manage PTO & LOA requests for the operating teams and work with the Talent Management team to fill any staffing gaps.
• Facilitate pre-arrival orientation to Academy and ACSI certification applications.
• Prepare teacher welcome packs and maintain regular contact with incoming teachers.
• Maintain teachers’ professional development records.
• Support teachers renewing licenses and certifications in their home countries.
• Build bench strength for the team and collaborate with Learning & Development on training.
• Conduct Academy exit interviews.
• Visit key locations, as needed, to maintain and develop relationships.
• Maintain current knowledge of Mercy Ships policies and procedures in regard to volunteering.
• Follow up on all email and phone inquiries.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.
• High School Diploma required - Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent working experience preferred.
• Mercy Ships experience is strongly preferred.
• Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
