This role is responsible for the oversight of global operations for Mercy Ships Stewards Department located in Lindale Texas, in addition to oversight of the Stewards Department for both Africa Mercy and Global Mercy.  With a proven track record as a problem solver with excellent communication and organizational skills, our ideal candidate motivates, trains, develops, and directs team members to deliver exceptional service in our Hospitality Department.

This position will leverage their strong hospitality and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders (hospitality services, procurement, risk management and facilities operations) to promote standards and expectations that enhance user (partner and guest) experience.  The Hospitality Manager will be expected to foster a liaison between Mercy Ships International Support Center and Mercy Ships Fleet of Ships, specifically in the hospitality / steward’s department, fortifying collaboration within the organization.  Additionally, bi-annual travel to both Africa Mercy and Global Mercy would be anticipated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

  • Assist in staffing personnel according to standards
  • Organize and coordinate Steward’s operations to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Partnering with Procurement to ensure supplies and equipment are adequate in quantity and quality
  • Develop and implement standards and expectations for the Stewards department as a whole.
  • Determine the quality of the services provided by the Housekeeping / Hospitality and Foodservice Staff and ensure that the standards are maintained
  • Assist in the development of menu and production / prep expectations and guides, opening/closing checklist, and responsibility guides
  • Lead the team in coordinating and planning the production, preparation, and presentation of food at all locations.
  • Determine the future planning and goal setting for Stewards Department.  Develop and implement plans to ensure that they will be achieved
  • Handle operations by coordinating with all necessary departments
  • Ensure all records are kept properly and consistently
  • Review and prepare reports for senior management
  • Assist in the recruitment of new staff
  • Other duties as assigned
