Senior Manager Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture

Description:  

Sets the direction of technologies used in support of the infrastructure pillars of support Connectivity, Data Center, Cloud and Audio Visual. Accountable to the Director of Enterprise Infrastructure for the ensuring that a high level of scrutiny is given to all enhancement and project work where infrastructure pillar technologies are affected.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Not Limited To)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Accountable for the life cycle device & vendor standards
  • Accountable for technical design documentation standards.
  • Responsible for setting the standards by which project milestones are defined and signing off that the project is complete in conjunction with senior engineers.
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of changes in the technology industry and recommending improvements or additions to Mercy Ships' technology stack that would facilitate furthering the mission or making more efficient use of budget.
  • Accountable for maintaining the technical roadmap, architectural policies and technical processes that affect the use of infrastructure technologies.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the budget aligns with the roadmap, projects and enhancements that are planned for infrastructure technologies.
  • Responsible for assisting in maintaining strategic vendor relationships. 
  • Responsible for assessing the readiness of Infrastructure personnel for new and improved technologies, as well as suggesting changes to the training schedule.
  • 25% travel to Mercy Ships locations domestic and international as appropriate
  • Eligible to travel based on Mercy Ships policies and procedures, government entities, and local health requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of formal IT management best practice, such as ITIL/Cobit/ITSM
  • An up to date knowledge of infrastructure technologies, systems and hardwares, including:
    • Routing and switching technologies including STP, EIGRP, OSPF
    • WAN technologies including SDWAN, Load Balancing, Caching, Compression
    • Network Virtualization technologies including the latest versions of VMWare NSX
    • Virtualization technologies including the latest versions of VMware VSphere
    • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, the latest versions of such as VMWare Horizon View
    • Data storage platforms such as SAN, NAS and Cloud Hosted solutions
    • Storage Area Network connectivity technologies including FCoE, FC and iSCSI
    • Border network security technologies such as Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Content Filtering
    • Wireless network technologies
  • Infrastructure security with an understanding of the vulnerabilities and countermeasures
  • Knowledge with engineering conference rooms, Webcasting, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Streaming Video systems
  • An ability to adjust quickly in response to re-organization, strategy or priority changes and shifting customer needs
  • Be process oriented, have an attention to detail and a strong analytical problem solving ability
  • A strong customer service mindset including attitude and approach
  • An ability to use servant leadership, strong human resource management and inter-personal skills.
  • Leadership ability, flexibility, people skills a must for working with departments, leadership, and volunteers. Good time management skills
  • Management skills are required to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting responsibilities of this position
  • An ability to organize his/her work and embrace and participate in a well-functioning, productive, creative and collegial team
  • Ability to manage and maintain external vendor contracts, ensuring that the organization is receiving contracted SLA

Education And Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience in designing and implementing infrastructure technologies is required. f
  • Experience in designing and building new architecture.
  • Experience in upgrading network and server infrastructure in production environments
  • Experience managing multiple, ongoing external vendor relationships.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
