This is a FULL TIME Hybrid opportunity that requires on site work 3 days per week in Lindale, Texas.
Compensation Range for This Position Is $70,000 - $74,300
Mercy Ships is seeking a Biomedical Technician II to support the on-ship Biomedical Team in maintenance and procurement activities specifically for equipment and technical supplies including but not limited to medical, dental, surgical and off ship programs. You will conduct commissioning, inspections and checks with incoming equipment and parts in the Warehouse.
How You’ll Contribute
- Provides support for repair, installation, maintenance, calibration, and inspection of complex medical equipment, instrumentation and systems.
- Conduct commissioning, inspections and other checks with incoming equipment and parts in the warehouse
- Procures needed Program technical equipment while engaging and cultivating long term relationships with companies and individuals to sustain needs.
- Provides technical consultation in areas where medical, dental or surgical equipment is used as it relates to requirements and specifications.
- Develops and maintains written procedures for equipment operation and maintenance as assigned
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate procurement processes as requested by the ship.
- Document all service activities accurately and maintains up-to-date records of equipment maintenance and repairs
- Use of AIMS Biomedical Equipment Tracking Software (CMMS system) a plus.
- Provides temporary role substitution for (Senior) Biomedical Technicians on our ships during PTO or other absentee periods as needed.
- Preparation and, when necessary, leadership of the biomedical project team during Annual Maintenance Periods or any other shipboard projects.

The Ideal Candidate
- Knowledge of the healthcare industry, including an understanding of hospital operations and medical equipment manufacturers.
- Demonstrates strong communication and presentation skills (listening, writing and speaking)
- Strong technical knowledge of biomedical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Proficiency in using biomedical test equipment and can understand testing reports (Fluke)
- Ability to collaborate with DMS staff to outline specific needs for equipment based on treatment and hospital needs.
- Ability to manage others to meet project goals and respond to urgent demands from clinical users as it relates to defective equipment during use.
- Proficiency in video calls and phone skills and successful customer service attributes required to engage individual/companies to partner with the ministry.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel).
- Can work well together, despite long distances and sometimes cultural differences
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and document work procedures.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms).
- National and international travel will be required – must have a valid passport, visas, and immunizations.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of hospital experience as a biomedical technician and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Biomedical Technician (CBET) preferred
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
- Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
